Alden Archambault, Jr. was active/lived in Montana, South Dakota.  Alden Archambault Jr is known for Native American figure painting.

Biography   Alden Archambault, Jr.

Alden Archambault, Jr. died on December 7, 2005.  He was a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and went by the Lakota name Mahto Hosila.  He lived in the Bear Soldier Community at McLaughlin in South Dakota, a nationally and internationally recognized artist.  In addition to painting and drawing, he was also skilled in working in leather, beadwork, and quillwork.

Archambault was a Vietnam Veteran, an experience he drew on when creating the watercolor for the United Tribes International Powwow poster 2006, honoring all Native American soldiers returning to their tribal culture.

He had studied art and history at Eastern Montana College, and went on to win many major juried art shows, including the Great Falls   ...  Displaying 750 of 976 characters.
