Alice R. Comins (1861-1943)
A native of Gloucester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. John E. Johnston, she began her study of art during a girlhood spent there and in Boston and began also her collection of rare antiques, both of which were life-long interests. She was a pupil of the artist Woodbury and exhibitions of her work have been held in Boston, in Maine, where for many years she has maintained a home at York Cliffs, and in Carmel, where she was an active member of the Carmel Art Association*.
