Painter, wood carver, designer and teacher, Anna Cameron received much attention for her woodcarving skills in early Nebraska, especially in 1893 for her part in the state’s entry in Chicago for the Woman’s Building of the World's Columbian Exposition. By hand carving oak, she created the base of an “Electrolier,” which was an electric powered Chandelier-shaped object designed by F.M. Russell of the Russell and Pratt Company and executed by the Omaha Grant Smelting Company. This “Electrolier” became an object of much fascination and pride in Nebraska, and the Omaha World-Herald newspaper gave it extensive coverage when it was on display in Chicago
