Anna Hong was a painter and an educator born Anna Emilie Hong, but was
often called Anna Helga Hong. She painted in acrylics, oils, and
watercolor, and was also a judge of flower shows and a flower
Hong was born in Iowa in 1889. She studied at
Columbia University, Otis Art Institute, California School of Fine
Arts, University of Washington, University of California at Los
Angeles, and the Grande Chaumiere in Paris, France. Hong was also known
to have studied under Armin Hansen during her academic career.
was a member of the Army Medical Corps in World War I. During the
1920s and 1930s, she traveled between Evanston, Illinois, and Los
