Baldwin Coolidge was born in Woburn, MA in July 1845. Baldwin was an engineer early in life and a veteran of the Civil War. He had a photography studio in Boston in 1900-10 and by 1920 was living with his daughter in Pasadena. He died at the Soldier's Home in Los Angeles on Dec. 13, 1928.
The Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley has his only known painting of a coal mining scene in Contra Costa County, CA, dated 1881.
