Born in San Francisco, California on Sept. 5, 1867 of Irish parents, "Carrie" Callahan studied locally at the Mark Hopkins Institute and in Paris at Académie Julian. Unmarried and a lifelong resident of her native city, she died in a nursing home in Palo Alto, California on Oct. 25, 1959.
Her rare works include Dutch and French scenes as well as miniatures.
