Born in Maine on Jan. 6, 1909. Cary graduated from Monrovia (CA) High School in 1928 and then worked for three years as a trombonist in a band. During a trip through Mexico in 1931 he had a vision and began painting. The artist's works were "guided by supernatural forces" and signed "Azora." He then worked as an artist for 60 years. The latter part of his life was spent in San Diego where he died on Oct. 21, 1993.
