Cristoforo Casolani (c.1582-c. 1629)

Primarily a frescoe painter, Cristoforo, also called Cristofano, was born c. 1582 as son of Alessandro Casolani and Aurelia Rustici (daughter of painter Lorenzo Rustici).

His first teacher was Cristoforo Roncalli (also called Pomarancio 1552-1626), friend and teacher of his father's.  Cristoforo is mentioned as an assistant to Pomarancia, along with 13 others, in the painting of frescoes at the Cappella Clementina in St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome.  From 1602 to 1605, he served as his assistant at the church San Silvestro in Capite.  

Cristoforo's main frescoe work was done at Santa Maria ai Monti (1602-1609).  Other works of his are in Rome at  Sant'Andrea de   ...  Displaying 750 of 1431 characters.
