Born in Austria, Cyril Colnik (1871-1958) was a renowned blacksmith who got his education at the Munich Industrial Art School. Having achieved recognition as a gifted student, Colnik was selected to go to Chicago along with the German iron-working team for the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893.
