Biography Donna Marecak
Donna Marecak became one of Colorado's most significant ceramists, although she did not have a large output nor did she have major recognition during her life. In her later education she discontinued nurse's training to attend art classes at The Art Institute of Chicago and Hull House. Donna further studied with Edgar Britton at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center 1946 - 1949. She received a BFA degree at the University of Denver in 1966, attending classes there 1964 - 1966 while Vance Kirkland was Director of the School of Art. Her World War II work in defense plants, where she operated lathes, grinding and milling machines, were helpful in the development of ceramic techniques later. She also attended
