Elmer M. Thurston was born in West Bristol, ME on Aug. 2, 1873. Thurston had a studio-home in Rochester, NY at the turn of the century. By 1910 he had settled in Los Angeles and was active in the local art scene while studying at Otis Art Institute. He painted scenes of the coast, High Sierra, and the desert near Palm Springs before his death in Los Angeles on Aug. 28, 1952.
