Biography Estellyn Allday Achning
A resident of San Antonio, Texas, Estellyn Achning was active there and in Wichita Falls as a painter and graphic artist. She painted scenes of Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico including ethnic studies and plant life and was also an illustrator and writer of short stories.
Achning was born in Atlanta, Texas and attended, 1926-27, the Kidd-Key College in Sherman, Texas, and the Taos Field School at the University of New Mexico from 1940 to 42. From 1944 to 1946, she studied at the Colorado springs fine Arts Center and was also a student of Andrew Dasburg, Henry McFee, and Charles Rosen.
From 1948 to 1950, she was President of the San Antonio Art League.
