Ferdinand (Ferd, Fred) Ehrlich (1905-1983)

He was born in Sombor, Hungary in 1905 and moved to Detroit, Michigan when he was six.

In 1929 Fred took classes at the Art Students League in New York.  He filled a sketchbook with over 50 pencil and charcoal drawings of New York City.  Other works from his early career include block prints of scenes from the Long Island waterfront, and watercolor and oil studies of farms on Long Island.

Fred built his career as a commercial artist in New York, running his own business specializing in advertising art and photo retouching.  He did calligraphy including retouching the lettering on original Courier and Ives paintings, and he airbrushed photos for commercial photog   ...  Displaying 750 of 1922 characters.
