Biography Gary E. Coulter
Studied at Fort Hays State Univ., earning both a BA in 1960 and a MA in 1961, and at the Univ. of Kansas, Lawrence where he earned a MFA in 1963. Coulter became a Professor of Art at Hastings (NE) College where he spent a major part of his career from 1963-80. He also served as president and sculptor at the Sculpture Studio and Foundry, Inc in Pueblo West, CO from 1979-85, and over the next few years worked in Colorado, Missouri, and New Mexico. In 1991 Coulter was hired as chairman of the Art Department at Fort Hays State serving from 1991-96. Moved to Colorado after retiring from Fort Hays in 2000.
