Born in Detroit, Michigan on Sept 14, 1895, Fisher was a pupil of John P. Wicker. By 1923 he had moved to Los Angeles and was president of the Independents, a group practicing Dynamism, Expressionism, and Cubism. While there, he painted murals in the Flintridge Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles Crematory, and the library of the Ferris School in Huntington Park.
He died in Huntington Woods, Michigan in April of 1986
