Born in Illinois on March 3, 1886. Colson studied at the AIC and was on the art staff of the Chicago Tribune before moving to Los Angeles in 1923. He taught art while working in the art department of the Examiner, and then for 17 years worked at the Times. He died in Pasadena on May 14, 1963.
