Biography Ibere Camargo
Iberê Camargo was born in the Brazilian Restinga Seca in 1914. In 1927, he began his training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Santa Maria. He moved to Porto Alegro in 1936 and began his studies at the Institute of Fine Arts under Alberto da Veiga Guignard. There he met his future wife Mary.
In 1942, the couple moved to Rio de Janero, where Camargo later received a professorship in printmaking at the Institute of Fine Arts. In 1948, Camargo traveled to Europe to study the great masters. He was particularly impressed by the painters Giorgio De Chirico, Carlo Alberto Petrucci, Leoni Augusto Rosa, Antonio Achille, and André Lhote.
