“Irene came to Paso with two young boys about 35 years ago (or more). She established a millinery and dress shop in Park street with a partner (her sister). She later took over the shop herself. She was located where the Style Center is at present. When a new Bldg was erected where Cassidy Shoe Store is now located, she moved there. She could sew as well as sell ladies ready-to-wear, and she burned the midnight oil while raising her family – Duane Mitchell and Jack Mitchell. She could tell you some experiences unique to a town like Paso Robles – like when members of the same club purchased dresses which were alike in everything but size.
