Jacques Callaert ( Ghent , 3 October 1921 - Ostend , 13 October 1996 ) was a Belgian figurative painter .
He studied at the Ghent Academy and the Academy Libre in Paris. During the Second World War he was employed in Germany , before he fled and was a volunteer in the American army.
Callaert settled in 1952 in Middelkerke, Belgium. In 1959 he made a trip to the Belgian Congo, which he crossed by car and where he exhibited in various cities.
He exhibited at the Casino Middelkerke (1959, 1960), Casino Arosa (1960, 1961), Carlton (Knokke Salt) (1959, 1960) and participated in the exhibitions of the Ostend Art Circle in the fifties .
