Biography James Blain
James Blain, born Kilmarnock, painted in Ayrshire and particularly enjoyed painting scenes of Arran and the Glasgow area, where he lived for most of his life. He painted in both watercolors and oils. The artist exhibited mostly after WWII at The Glasgow Institute and The Paisley Art Institute as well as at the annual RSA and RSW exhibitions. The Dick Institute in Kilmarnock holds a painting by the artist in its collection.
