Biography James Graham Cooper
Illustrator and naturalist James Graham Cooper was born in New York City (1830). He attended and graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, then practiced medicine for two years. As a physician, Cooper joined the 1853-55 western railway survey,. While on this trip he painted Mt. Rainier twice, which was later reproduced.
Cooper then settled in California, working as an orinthologist, zoologist and wrote on the natural history of California and Washington.
