James L. Fitzgibbon (1864-1929) was born in the southwest of Ireland, (probably County Limerick or Cork) and died in Kansas City, Mo. His parents brought him and his siblings to America in the early 1880s, during the third great wave of Irish immigration spurred by a series of potato famines (1879 was the third of three that began in 1846). The family settled in St. Louis in 1884 and remained there until 1890.
During that period, James lived for a time in New York where he enrolled at the National Academy. By 1890, the family had moved to the 3800 block of Wyoming Street in Kansas City, Missouri, where the five siblings resided together to the end of their lives. N
