Jeanne Philiberte Ledoux was born in Paris, France in 1767 and died in Belleville, France in 1840. A pupil of Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Mlle Ledoux appeared at the Salon de Paris from 1793 to 1819 and at that of Douai in 1823. She was very fashionable in the Parisian artistic milieu. The famous miniaturist Hall made his portrait in 1791. His works are preserved in the museums of decorative arts of Paris, the Cognacq-Jay museum and the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm.
