Jessie Fisken was an American artist, an immigrant from Helensburgh, Scotland. Born March 4 1860, she came to America in 1888 on the Norwegian line Anchoria, out of Glasgow, Scotland. Jessie traveled with her father, Archibald Fisken, born 1824, and mother Sarah Alexander Kerr, born 1838, and five of her siblings of which she was the eldest: Isabella Edith, Alfred Kerr, Clara Boyter, Beatrice Alice, and Mabel Louise.
Three of her younger siblings died in 1872 of diphtheria: Arthur, Harry and Sarah. Younger brother Archibald James immigrated in 1883 to Seattle, Washington; John Barclay came to Spokane, WA in 1887. Archibald James had established a home on Queen Anne Hill for the family before they came.
