Joan Barry lives in Edina, Minnesota and has her studio where she does her painting in north east Minneapolis. Using acrylic on medium size canvases, she creates abstract geometric images with a variety of references including surrealism and symbolism. Her inspiration varies from daily life reflections, to places, people, random thoughts and/or sprees of imagination.
She began some of her paintings inspired by artwork of famous artists whom she admires such as Marsden Hartley and work by Richard Diebenkorn.
