John Lawrence Lloyd was born in the year 1884 in Coaltown, Pennsylvania and was the son of Charles C. and Susannah Shipton Lloyd. Lloyd moved with is parents to Warren, Ohio in 1898 at the age of fourteen, and was a resident of that city for sixty-seven years until his death at 82 in 1967.
Lloyd was primarily known as an impressionist landscape artist working with oils, but was equally talented with watercolors and other mediums. His portraits and still life paintings were also highly recognized.
