Julia Acker

 (1898 - 1942)
Julia Acker was active/lived in Poland.  Julia Acker is known for figurative, genre, still life, flower painting, scenes of Jewish life.

Biography   Julia Acker

Born in Lviv in 1898, then part of Austro-Hungary, she studied painting at the Free Arts Academy of Leonard Podhorodecki and took private lessons at Pawel Gajewski in Lviv, in the new independent Poland after World War I.  She painted genre compositions as well as scenes from Jewish community life and also children's portraits, still lives and flowers

On September 17, 1939, Lviv was annexed by the Soviet Union but occupied by Germany starting in June, 1941.  In 1942, Acker committed suicide and was  interred in the Lviv Cemetery, with the cemetery data from 1941-1942 listing her interment of 07 May 1942.

In July of 1944 Lviv was recaptured by the Soviet Red Army but has been part of the Independent Ukraine s   ...  Displaying 750 of 1686 characters.
