Biography   Loring Gary Calkins

Born in Chicago, IL on June 11, 1887. Calkins studied at the AIC under Vanderpoel, Yale University, and with Duveneck. He was a resident of Chicago and Hingham, MA before moving to Los Angeles in the early 1940s. He died there on June 16, 1960. Member: Painters & Sculptors of LA; American Bookplate Designers; San Gabriel AA. Exh: AIC, 1902-20; Chicago Society of Etchers, 1919; NAC, 1926, 1927; Library of Congress, 1944; Long Beach AA, 1945, 1946.
