Louis Meijer & Johannes Franciscus Hoppenbrouwers

 (1809/1819 - 1866/1866)
Louis Meijer Johannes Franciscus Hoppenbrouwers is known for collaborative painting.

Biography   Louis Meijer & Johannes Franciscus Hoppenbrouwers

Louis Meijer was educated by George Pieter Westenberg (1791-1873) and Jan Willem Pieneman (1779-1853) and was most renowned for his seascapes.  Two years after his move to The Hague in 1847 Meijer painted in collaboration with Johannes Franciscus Hoppenbrouwers, a pupil of Andreas Schelfhout (1787-1870).

Under the influence of his master, Hoppenbrouwers was most familiar with depicting winter landscapes and he created the setting of their collaborative painting, while the staffage was provided by Meijer.  This exciting collaboration between both romantic masters creates an idyllic Dutch winter landscape.
