Louis de Gonzague Pascal Archambault OC, BA, RAIC, RCA, ASQ, SSC, CAS (1915 - 2003)
An important Canadian sculptor, ceramist*, muralist, draftsman and educator, Louis Archambault was born in Montreal, Quebec, where he lived his whole life and died. Hundreds of his works are in the permanent collections of Canadian museums and his monumental sculptures adorn numerous prominent public spaces in Quebec and Ontario. His art and life are discussed in almost all comprehensive Canadian art history books and in every volume of "Canadian Who's Who" from 1967 to 2003. He represented Canada at the Venice Biennale*, was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts*, and was invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada*.
