Biography Margaret Agnes Rope
Margaret Rope was a stained glass artist of the Arts and Crafts movement. Margaret Agnes Rope was born in Shrewsbury, the daughter of a doctor. She was brought up as a devout Roman Catholic.
In 1900, she entered The Birmingham Muncipal School of Art, where she studied enameling under S.H. Meteyard and stained glass under Henry Payne. During her nine years at the School she won numerous scholarships and consistently received medals and other awards at the National Competitions for Schools of Art held annually at South Kensington.
In 1910, she completed the first of a series of seven windows in Shrewsbury's Catholic Cathedral.
The following year she moved to London
