Marguerite Rose Antonia Bielefeldt was born in Santa Rosa, CA on Nov. 5, 1906 of German parents. Bielefeldt's mother divorced her father to marry artist Charles M. Crocker in 1919. It was he who first taught her to paint. The family moved to southern California in 1921 and the budding young artist began to develop artistically. At the onset of the Depression, she returned to Oakland to enter nursing school. While working as a nurse, she continued her art studies at the CSFA where she met Eugene Ivanoff. After their marriage in 1944, they lived in Los Angeles until her husband's death in 1950. Returning to San Francisco, Mrs. Ivanoff continued as a nurse while painting in her leisure. She died in San Rafael, CA on Dec. 18, 1986.
