Biography   Mike Ryon


Born in Ohio, Ryon (Mike Ryon) started drawing at age 4 on family trips. He grew up in NY and Chapel Hill, wanting to be either an architect or an artist; however, his father encouraged him to study architecture. After three years of architecture at North Carolina State University, bored and tired of learning how to build parking garages, he decided to study art.
 
Before he could get into the art school of his choice, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. When he returned, he studied art history at University of North Carolina and then was accepted into the Ringling College of Art & Design.
