Biography   Norbert van Bloemen


Flemish history, landscape and figure painter, Norbert van Bloemen was the younger brother of Jan Frans and Pieter van Bloemen.  Norbert was pupil of his brother Pieter and followed him to Rome, where he joined the Dutch artist's colony.  Probably around 1710 he settled in Amsterdam.  He began painting subjects from Italian folk life, later he also made history and genre paintings.
