Born in Dresden, Germany on June 25, 1868. Classen moved to Los Angeles in 1898 and worked as a freelance artist. He was active in southern California until his death on April 14, 1939 in Santa Monica. His work includes portraits and desert scenes. Exh: Bay Womens Club (Santa Monica), 1937.
