Patrick Ryan (American, 1934-2006), impressionist painter, was also known by the pseudonym of "Henri Plisson". He adopted a second name as his style changed dramatically from abstract to impressionism, and he sold his art both in America and Europe through a number of galleries.
He chose to keep his professional identities separate, as his price structure changed within his collectors' markets. (Many other artists have done this to sell paintings outside of their contracts with galleries, etc.)
