Born in San Francisco, CA on Oct. 11, 1874. The son of a wealthy banker, Bruguiere was a physician who painted in his leisure. He was a close friend of artist Gustav Liljestrom and his pupil on their many painting excursions. Another friend with whom he often painted was Clara McQuaid. Benny Bufano often sought his advice on combinations of chemicals for paints. While in the Orient in 1926, Bufano painted a portrait of Bruguiere. A society photographer and married five times, Dr. Bruguiere continued painting until shortly before his demise in San Francisco on July 29, 1967. Many of his paintings are unsigned or stamped with his signature. His brother, Francis, was a famous photographer. Member: Bohemian Club; Pacific Union Club.
