Phillip Callahan (1918-1991)
Born on April 11, 1918, Phillip Callahan was an American painter and muralist from Worcester, Massachusetts. Callahan began his artistic career young, and by the age of 18, had already exhibited several of his paintings in New York art galleries, some of which gained citations from the New York Art Critics' Society. A few of Callahan's painting were also exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York during the late 1930s, and a select number of his watercolors were chosen to represent the MoMA at a watercolor exhibition at the World's Art Center in Paris.
In 1937, Callahan studied art at the Worcester Institute of Fine Art, and then later began studies in mural painting at the Advanced School
