Richard Lahey, 85, a prominent artist and lecturer and former principal of the Corcoran School of Art, died Tuesday at the Fairfax Nursing Center after a stroke. He lived on Clark Crossing Road in Vienna.
Lahey was known as a versatile painter. His range including landscape, portraits and still life and covered both traditional and abstract styles. His work has been featured at art museums in New York, Boston, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Toledo, and Detroit, and at the Library of Congress.
Lahey entered the professional art field by way of cartooning. He was a free-lance artist for the old New York
