Biography Shizhuo Li
Li Shizhuo (1687-1770) was Gao Qipei's (1672-1734) nephew and came from
Fengtian in Liaoning. He was good at painting landscapes, figures,
flower and birds, and fruits. While traveling with his father in his
youth, he met Wang Hui (1632-1717) and had a talk with him, which
resulted in his painting style being traditional and delicate. His
figures followed the rules of Wu Daozi's painting, and his flower and
birds, fruits and objects were learned from his uncle's finger
Eventually, he created his own style. In his late years, he
favored finger painting for figures. He touched his flower and birds
with dry ink to make the colors light and dark. He was able to paint
