Stanley Francis Johnson, born May 4, 1907, in Los Angeles, CA, died October 27, 1995. He was a California abstract-expressionist artist. In his early years, Stan had a very unique California style. His many west coast seascapes and beach scenes showed his progression towards the abstract. It was noted, “he sometimes set his palette to go far beyond what nature usually allows.” This was the infancy of Stan’s avant-garde abstract expressionism experience.
