Theo Von Brockhusen (1882 - 1919)
Theo of Brockhusen first studied painting at the Art Academy in Königsberg. In East Prussia he created his first landscapes en plein air. In 1904 he moved to Berlin, where he joined the Berliner Secession and regularly exhibited. He also showed his work in Dresden, Dusseldorf, Bremen and Weimar. Brockhusen traveled to Paris, London and the seaside resorts of Knokke and Nieuwpoort. Here he created dune landscapes and paintings of beach life in the style of Impressionism. After a further stay in Paris, he studied the work of Vincent van Gogh. In his following works Brockhusen adopted van Goghs bright color palette and expressive brushwork. In 1910, the painter received the art prize of the city of Berlin,
