Thomas John Harter was active/lived in Arizona, California, Illinois.  Thomas Harter is known for western genre, wildlife and landscape painting.

Biography   Thomas Harter

Born in Naperville, Illinois, Thomas Harter moved to Los Angeles with his family in 1920.  At age 17, he apprenticed to a local lithographer, and then worked in Los Angeles as a professional lithographer and designer with Western Lithograph Company from 1922-25; and as staff artist of the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper from 1925-1929.  From 1929 to 1930, he was head of that newspaper's art department. 

Further art education included evening classes in 1925 at the California Art Institute with Carl Borg; the Art Students League in 1930 in New York City; and study from 1932-34 with Harvey Dunn at Grand Central Art School.  In 1937, he moved to Tempe, Arizona, and in 1940, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at   ...  Displaying 750 of 1943 characters.
