Born in Walla Walla, WA on Sept. 23, 1904. Laman began his art studies at the Portland Art Academy and, after arriving in San Francisco about 1929, continued at the CSFA. During the 1930s he fulfilled mural and sculpture commissions for the WPA and, under their auspices, served as art administrator for four northwestern states (Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho). He also assisted Ralph Stackpole on the pylons in front of the San Francisco Stock Exchange. Laman died in San Francisco on Jan. 25, 1964. Member: SFAA; Calif. Mural Painters (treasurer, 1936).
