Biography Trevor Fowler
Trevor Thomas Fowler was known as a portrait and genre painter. He was born in Dublin, Ireland (1800) and by 1837 he was in New York City. By 1840 he was in New Orleans, and while traveling on a steamer from New Orleans to Nashville he depicted Andrew Jackson, who was also on board. He also painted portraits of Henry Clay and William Henry Harrison. He returned to Europe around 1842, and studied in Paris, and in 1843 and 1844 he exhibited in Dublin. He usually spent the winters in New Orleans, beginning in the fall of 1844, and spent some summers in Cincinnati and Kentucky, until about 1853. From 1854-81 he lived in Germantown and Philadelphia.
