Biography W.W. Clarke
Active perhaps in 1860 in both Atchison, Kansas and De Kalb, Missouri, W.W. Clarke was recorded in the 1860 federal census in Atchison as a "thirty-one year old 'artist' born in Massachusetts." He was listed as living in the household of A.J. Angell, an engineer in Atchison.
But the DeKalb, Missouri census that same year listed William Clarke as an 'artist', giving his age as thirty-two and birth place as Massachusetts, so it is suggested that he was listed twice as the locations were twelve miles apart, and he likely traveled the distance.
It is possible he was a daguerreian artist.
