Clawson, William Reuben (1855-1924)
Landscape painter and designer of wallpaper, born in Eaton (Preble) January 16, 1855. He operated an art supply store there and painted numerous landscapes in oil and watercolor, before becoming a traveling salesman for the Cincinnati (Hamilton) wallpaper and paint company during the 1890’s.
By 1919 he had left Eaton and opened a studio in Walnut Hills, Cincinnati; at the time of his death there, November 22, 1924, he was preparing for an exhibition at the Marshall Field Company, Chicago.
