Benjamin Jorj Harris


Benjamin Jorj Harris was a noted African American artist who lived from 1904 to1957. He was related to Joel Harris, author the 'Uncle Remus stories' ?Benjamin specialized in airbrushed watercolors and along with his wife Georgette, are said to have perfected the technique.

?Harris was one of many artists who supplied original watercolors,to Newman Decor, a high-end interior design firm that decorated apartments during the late 1940s housing boom. ?This original art work would complement the fabric selected as coverings or, as in this case, the overall mood of the decorations.
