Victor Nikolaevich Chulovich

Victor (Viktor) Chulovich, who specialized in landscape painting, was born in the village of Cherkizovo near Moscow in 1922.  He belongs to the generation of artists who fought in WWII and participated in the Battle of Stalingrad.

Heavily wounded, the young soldier returned to Moscow.  He studied at 1905 Art College from 1939 to 1941 and VGIK until 1945.  For several years, Chulovich worked as a designer at the Mosfilm film studios. He was admitted to the Artists' Union of the USSR in1950. Funded by the Artists' Union, its members had the opportunity to go on frequent tours to various locations.
