Oliver Foss Painting of his wife and son-How to get a hold of any remaining
Melissa (01/30/2015)
My parents met and purchased an original Oliver Foss painting from Oliver Foss years ago. The painting is of Mr. Foss's wife and young son. We are trying to reach any descendants of Oliver Foss. Does anyone know where we might find this information?

Oliver Foss
Ruth Claire Weintraub (12/23/2014)
My father, before he went overseas w/ the US Army in 1943, was a student of Martin Foss at Haverford. My folks bought a painting by Oliver from his parents because (they said) they thought when I grew up, I'd look like the blond-haired girl who was the subject of the painting. I had hoped to get to visit Olivier while I was in Paris w/ friends and family there, but somehow a hoped-for meeting didn't happen. I wonder if anyone has been able to date his paintings? Does anyone know when he turned from portrait-painting to landscape and urban landscape?

Just a few notes
Michele Levin (02/17/2010)
My husband who passed away in 2006 (he was 80 years old, had met Mr. Foss in Paris many years ago while on his honeymoon with his first wife. I don't remember exactly how he met Mr. Foss, but he and his wife were invited by Mr. Foss in his apartment where they met his young wife. They took a liking to each other and my husband acquired a painting of a Paris street scene (Montmartre) from Mr. Foss. I am completely unaware of how much my husband paid for the painting or if it even was a gift. I should have paid more attention to what transpired when my husbande was still alive as he kept telling me about his encounter with Mr. Foss. Many years later after we were married (he divorced his first wife), on one of our numerous trips to Paris to visit my family (I am French), we tried to to reconnect with him and couldn't find the street where he used to live and the galleries we visited were unable to give us a contact number to reach him. Anyhow, I thought I would share those remembrances. I don't think it is worth being discussed on your discussion board, but in any case, I thought I would share what my husband communicated with me. (I still have Mr. Foss' painting hanging on the wall of my foyer and it looks exactly like most of the paintings Mr. Foss painted).
